Top 20 Most Expensive Domain Name Sales Ever

Imagine buying a brand new domain name for $10, then holding onto it for a few years and selling it for millions! The scenario is extremely unlikely, but it does happen. More often than not, the domain is sold for thousands, but the individual ROI on that initial $10 can be huge! Welcome to the world of domain name buying and selling.

Having been making money online since the mid-90s, I’m always kicking myself at the thought of being able to get my hands on some of the best generic domains back before they were registered. Oh, well 🙂 I think it all ended up for the best so far anyway.

With the discussion of domain names and high-valued tech companies always in the news, the dream of selling a domain name for a ton of money isn’t that far off — especially if you know what to look for, or are currently sitting on a nice portfolio of domains. To help with this process, we’ve created an excellent reference guide that covers everything you need to know domain names, values, and registering some great ones of your own.

Most expensive domain names publicly reported

When it comes to looking up the most expensive domain names ever purchased, it’s an ongoing process. With more than 100,000+ new domains being registered daily, it’s a full-time job to keep the list of most active and highest-priced domain names updated. Thanks to GoDaddy, we don’t have to compile this type of information ourselves, as they are one of the largest domain registrars in the world today, and publicly post this data on their site.

At the same time, there are many different ways to list and sell domain names — both publicly, privately, and through domain brokers. GoDaddy also reports that most domain names sell for thousands of dollars when being purchased from someone else.

With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at the top 20 highest selling domains names to date — courtesy of GoDaddy.

  1. Insurance.com — $35.6 million
  2. VacationRentals.com — $35 million
  3. PrivateJet.com — $30.18 million
  4. Internet.com — $18 million
  5. 360.com — $17 million
  6. Insure.com — $16 million
  7. Fund.com — £9.99 million
  8. Sex.com — $13 million
  9. Hotels.com — $11 million
  10. Porn.com — $9.5 million
  11. Porno.com — $8,888,888
  12. Fb.com — $8.5 million
  13. Business.com — $7.5 million
  14. Diamond.com — $7.5 million
  15. Beer.com — $7 million
  16. iCloud.com — $6 million
  17. Israel.com — $5.88 million
  18. Casino.com — $5.5 million
  19. Slots.com — $5.5 million
  20. Toys.com — $5.1 million

The common theme across nearly all of these multi-million dollar domain sales is that they are super generic one-word domain names, that are also .com. The only two exceptions are VacationRentals.com and PrivateJet.com, which both sold for more than $30 million each! The fifth highest selling domain isn’t even a word at all — it’s a number (360.com)!

How to Pick a Great Domain Name

Obviously, the most expensive and valuable domain names are going to be one-word generics that are .com names. What’s also obvious, is that these type of names are no longer around and if you ever wanted to buy and sell domains for profit, you either need to get your hands on a great name, have an existing portfolio, or be really good at coming up with new names that people might want (which happens all the time).

Some simple tips to keep in mind when trying to pick a good domain name.

  • Stick with the main TLDs of .com, .net, and .org
  • Stay away from using dashes and numbers in domains
  • The more generic the better, two words are better than three
  • Make sure the domain is easy to remember and spell
  • Don’t use numbers in place of letters/words (ie: “8” instead of “ate”)
  • Always register your personal name if it’s available

By following these tips, you will have a much better chance at not only registering a great domain name for personal use, business, or for selling — but also making sure it’s the highest value possible.

Using Name Generators to Find New Names

There are two ways to register/buy a domain name. The first is to go through a broker or online site where a domain is already registered and up for sale. The other is going to a domain registrar and simply registering it for the first time. Heading to a site like NameCheap or GoDaddy and getting a new domain name for around $10 is ideal, but also very tough since nearly all the good names are already taken.

If this is the case, you might need to get a bit creative with your domain name, or coming up with a new name for your brand or business. For times like these, I recommend you take a look at these domain name generators. If you are looking for a unique name for blog, business, or products, check out these useful name generators as well.

Something else to keep in mind when registering a new domain name, is that if it’s available, it might not be that great after all. Always consider the domain name you are registering, and also follow the recommended tips that were pointed out above.

Why You Must Register Your Personal Name as a Domain

Your name is unique, and there is no one else in the world like you! However, there are probably hundreds (if not thousands) of other people that share the same name as you. With this in mind, there is a very good chance that someone has already registered your name as a domain if you haven’t secured it already.

Here are two steps everyone needs to follow right now:

  1. See if your personal name as a domain is available
(get a free domain name with a new hosting account)
  2. If it is, register it! If not, register it as a .net or .org.

If you currently share the name with a famous celebrity, senator, or online marketer, it’s likely your name is already taken as a domain name and there is little chance you will be able to acquire it. This has happened to some of the world’s biggest celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and politicians — Justin Beiber (domain name site shown below), Bill Clinton, Johnny Depp, and many others.

Don’t miss out on registering your personal name as your domain name, as once it’s gone — it’s likely gone forever! If you currently have close friends and family, you might want to check for their names as well.

If your domain name is already taken, it’s not a complete dead end. Here are a few options you have:

  1. Use a domain name expiration service like NameJet or Pool
  2. Hire a domain broker to try and get the domain for you
  3. If there is a website, contact the domain owner

Want to get even more creative? Start registering the names of anyone else you know, or who might be an up and coming star, and keep them safe until they are famous and world renown!

Top Dating Keywords and How to Create a Profitable Dating Site

With so many different ways to make money on the internet, it’s important not to fall into the trap of shiny object syndrome. And by this, we mean jumping from one idea to another and trying to get rich overnight. Even if this can be successfully done, it will likely only bring minimal results and only last for a short period of time.

A much better way to make money online is to look at the long-term picture and create a website, or an ad campaign that will continue to provide value, incoming traffic, and revenue for years to come. With virtually an unlimited supply of traffic and advertiser money out there to benefit from, it’s simply a matter of choosing a niche market, then making the most of it.

One such example of an industry that is completely evergreen and will have a never-ending supply of traffic and revenue, is the online dating niche — much like the weight loss and financial markets, they just never seem to die out as more people come of age daily. However, this is an extremely saturated online market as well. If you are going to jump into this area, you need to put in the time and effort to know who your audience is and create the best ad campaigns possible, specifically targeted towards geographic and demographic interest and data.

You might also be thinking about how saturated the online dating space already is — which is correct. If we take a look at the Wikipedia graph below, we can see just how many members are subscribed to the top dating sites. However, you will also learn that there are hundreds of online dating sites with affiliate programs, and millions of individuals throughout the world are trying online dating for the first time daily.

As for growth, Nasdaq reported, “Online dating is also gaining traction overseas, most notably in China, where revenue is estimated to total $1.6 billion for the year by the end of 2016.” For even more updating online dating numbers, we can take a look at some stats and revenue growth charts from Statista.

  • Revenue in the “Online Dating” segment amounts to US$1,383m in 2018.
  • Revenue is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2018-2022) of 3.9% resulting in a market volume of US$1,610m in 2022.
  • User penetration is at 5.7% in 2018 and is expected to hit 6.3% in 2022.
  • The average revenue per user (ARPU) currently amounts to US$4.70.
  • From a global comparison perspective, it is shown that most revenue is generated in the United States (US$590m in 2018).

So what does this mean for content creators, site owners, and affiliates marketers?

Simple… a world of opportunity and growth! And also, stop focusing all of your efforts on just the U.S. and English speaking markets!

With all of that in mind, today we are going to walk through the process of how to create a profitable dating and relationship blog. This is a perfect business model or marketing method for anyone to get started with online and affiliate marketing. Even better, this method also doesn’t require a lot of upfront money in the process and is ideal for anyone that would like to focus more on putting their free time and effort getting put to good use.

This process breaks down into the following three steps.

  1. Know your audience and target demographic
  2. Have a form of monetization (ie: affiliate2day)
  3. Promote your site with SEO and social media

Be sure to follow along and consider your options with making money in the world of online dating and providing relationship advice to the millions of people who are searching for these types of resources daily.

The Target Audience and Demographic of Your Site

While it might seem like your audience and the demographics of your site would be anyone who is single and is looking for a relationship, you would be correct, but you would also be way too generic at the same time. Instead, if you want to make money and be able to rank above the competition, you will need to have a very niche specific site that not only caters to a specific gender but also provides them with exactly what they are looking for.

When looking at the type of content to create and how to target an audience, a perfect example of this can be seen below in this dating keywords list from Modovo. While many sites will list one or two keywords to target, Mondovo has done an excellent job with listing a wide range of long-tail keywords and search phrases — all related to everything dating.

In that same article, we can also take a look at some of the most searched dating keywords as well. When doing any research on these dating keywords, be sure to look at the additional long tail keywords and other ways that you can spend this into more creative topics while giving the audience exactly what they want. For example, you might see that “dating app” and “dating sites” have more than 600,000 searches per month. But going after a search phrase like “what to do on a first date” (with 5,400 searches per month) has a completely different focus and mind set. Depending on what keywords and search phrases you are going after, you will have to create content based on these needs and individual call-to-actions that relate to the users need.

When creating the content for your site, it’s important to always focus on not just your end goal (which is likely to get users to sign up for a dating offer) but to also rank higher in the search results with the most targeted content possible. If you have a site that is strictly focused on kissing, you can cover every type of kissing/making out search phrase there is. You can see a few more examples of these keywords below.

Sticking with this same concept, you can use any of the most searched for phases at the beginning of this section, then plug them into Google and see more “related searches” like the ones above. For best results, create one super long article with all of these topics covered, or multiple articles (2,000+ words in length) and link each of them back to each other on your site.

How to Best Monetize Your Site Content

The great thing about creating dating tips or relationship blog is that there are plenty of ways to monetize your content. At the most simple form, you can always use Google Adsense ads on your site and make a small portion of the revenue generated, or you can promote individual dating related offers or actual dating sites in themselves. In most cases, going with an affiliate offer to send leads to a dating site is probably the best option — since that is likely what your audience is interested in.

As mentioned earlier, there are now well more than a billion active sites on the internet today. That is a lot of content, and way too many distractions out there. This is especially true if you plan on converting your audience into a lead after just one visit. A better way to connect and provide value to your audience, might be through the use of an autoresponder series where you can deliver quality information, guides, and resources over time.

This is just one of the many forms on monetization available to site owners and bloggers today. Through the visual below we can see how marketing might start through ppc ads, forum posts, banners, or even social media… but that is just the start of the process. It’s then up to your content and websites to flow the user through a process where they trust your content and find value in it, then also subscribing to your mailing list, and also be ready to take action through your site.

This isn’t just an effective business model for brands and site owners selling courses of digital products, it also works in the world of online dating and relationships as well. Once you have a content focus and target audience in place, don’t just think of a monetization play and how to make money — consider your options with longterm subscriber and revenue growth as well.

Also mentioned earlier, the online dating space is absolutely saturated with content, competitors, money, and advertising options — however, there is still plenty of room to compete and make money as well. There are many well-known brand name US dating sites, many of which you probably already know and maybe even use or promote. The same holds true for dating outside of the US. If you are only targeting the USA or just English-speaking countries, you are missing out big time! Take a look at this list of the world’s most single countries.

  1. BRAZIL, 10%
  2. KENYA, 15%
  3. SOUTH AFRICA, 24%
  4. RUSSIA, 25%
  5. CANADA, 27%
  6. U.S., 28%
  7. ITALY, 29%
  8. JAPAN, 31%
  9. BRITAIN, 34%
  10. SWEDEN, 47%

To make all of this easier to follow, we will use Affiliate2Day as our example affiliate program for monetization on dating tips or relationship blog. Like many other affiliate networks, Affiliate2Day is a dating-specific affiliate program that offers compensation when someone joins or purchases on one of their dating websites.

If you don’t already have an affiliate account with them, you can create one by clicking here.

Most of my site readers should already be familiar with the process of affiliate marketing and how to set up their first campaign. You simply join a program, grab your affiliate link, and post it to your site. For a program like Affiliate2Day, it would be best to place call-to-actions throughout the content on your site. If you were going to promote the dating offers through paid marketing and media buying, then using unique landing pages that cater to different demographic audiences and their interests would be best.

When attempting to make money with a dating and relationship blog, it’s important to keep your efforts focused on one common call to action. Either use a solution like Google Adsense, an individual product/service, or a specific dating website. Too many options can lead to site readers being overwhelmed and simply leaving your site. This can also be a headache for tracking site earnings as well.

In reference to making money with Affiliate2Day, affiliate partners have three monetization methods to choose from.

  • Pay Per Sale: 25% of sales amount + $25 sign-up bonus
  • Pay Per Lead: $6 to $8 per lead generated
  • Pay Per First Order: $150 to $250 per first order

If you aren’t sure which monetization method is best for your site, I would recommend going with the “ up to $8 per lead” option, as this will give the best results overall while also letting you know the type of data and leads you have flowing through your site. Higher quality sites and leads would likely benefit more from the “$250 per first order option”.

Another way to make money with Affiliate2Day, is to refer other site owners and affiliates to their network, and then earn 10% of their commissions.

Now that we have a content monetization method in mind, we can now move onto the content promotion part.

Attracting New Site Visitors with SEO and Social Media

Creating a website or a blog is extremely easy. Content creation is also very easy as well, and can even be outsourced if you don’t know what you are writing about. One of the most important factors when attempting to make money online with a website or a blog, is knowing how to get a consistent flow of new visitors to your website.

Two of the most common and effective ways to accomplish this is through the use of SEO and social media. As mentioned earlier, ranking at the top of Google for any type of generic term is nearly impossible. This is why you are going to have to get creative and unique with the type of content you create. We recommend you go after long tail keywords and make your content as specific as possible, not only so you can target your audience, but also make it more likely that they will take action when they get to your site.

However, there are better ways to approach this process. For example, using a tool like SEMRush, we can plug in any dating or relationship blog and see what keywords they are currently ranking for. We can also see their placement in Google, how many people search for that phrase monthly, the difficulty in ranking for that keyword, and also a direct link to the article that is ranking. Obviously, you don’t want to copy the content on these sites, but instead, study the long tail keywords that are ranking and getting traffic, which you might not have found otherwise. You can see an example of all of this below.

At the same time, if you are completely against the idea of waiting around for your site to organically rank in Google, you can also focus your efforts on social media. Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest are three of this hottest social platforms for building a following around relationships and advice — and Facebook Ads is ideal for targeting singles based on their interests and locations (think custom landing pages here).

No matter what method you choose, understand that it’s all about the time and effort that you put into your content, call to actions, and link building/promotion efforts. With more than a billion active sites on the internet, creating a site and content means nothing — it’s all about the value, delivery, and getting it in front of the right audiences.

Can You Really Still Make Money in the Online Dating Space?

Without a doubt. Just ask any of the top dating affiliate platforms on the internet today, and they will tell you they are paying out thousands of dollars per month to hundreds, if not thousands of their site partners — and best of all, affiliate marketing is paving the way. This means you can test different dating sites, content offers, and traffic sources, to see which work best for you.

As always, I can only provide you with so much information and details. To see real results, you need to actually put all of this into action. If you haven’t started a website or blog yet, follow this guide, and feel free to shoot me an email when you get started. I would love to hear about your online success!

When they aren’t saving money or dishing the dirt on the latest parenting tips, you might just find some of them on parenting expert roundups like this one.

25+ Industry Veterans Reflect Back on Affiliate Summit

To bring this “expert” expert roundup series to a close, I wanted to bring us back to one of my best and most favorite roundups on the internet — which also happens to be right on this very blog. This round up is from Affiliate Summit attendees (mainly industry veterans), who were all asked what their favorite / most memorable story or event was over the past 15 years of Affiliate Summit events. This round up was perfect for many reasons, but mainly because they were all genuine stories that related not only with other Affiliate Summit attendees but also the person telling the story.

As mentioned in one of the earlier roundup examples… don’t feel obligated to always just ask a single question. Feel free to make it more open ended to bring more conversation and engagement to the table.

Creating Your Own Expert Roundups

Now that you’ve seen what’s possible with expert roundups, it’s time to start creating one of your own. The most time-consuming part of this whole process is the outreach process, as you will need to individually email each of the experts you would like to include within your roundup. What takes even longer is the process of actually finding the contact information for each person. To help with this process, I highly recommend using a solution like Outreach Ninja (14 day free trial).

Once the outreach process has taken place, then it’s a waiting game to see who is getting back to you. Again, a tool like Outreach Ninja can help with this, as you can build contact lists and see how is getting back to you — which is useful for future roundups. After going live with your roundup, be sure to then contact everyone who contributed, to let them know it’s live. Tell them you will be promoting it through social media and you’d appreciate if they could do the same.

Follow the example expert roundups above and the quick action guide above to start creating similar high-quality posts for your own site!

Don’t forget — If you are currently in need of an expert round-up for your own brand or blog, contact me and let’s make it happen! We’ll put together an action plan and outreach strategy that works best for your niche and target audience.

Why Online and Offline Real Estate are Always Great Investments

No matter what profession you’ve chosen to go into, investing in real estate (both online and offline) is one of the best ways to safeguard your future financial security. You may be thinking, but I don’t know anything about investing. The good news is you don’t have to be a hotshot Wall Street professional to get started. Just like pretty much any type of investing or necessary further education requirements, you can learn all of the basics online.

The great thing about investing in real estate is that even making small investments can later provide big returns. While offline real estate and properties will likely cost thousands of dollars to start investing in, online properties (in the form of domain names) can cost as little as $10 to get started. In either case, there is plenty of time, work, and research required for each. Yes, people are making good money, but it would also be a huge mistake to think it’s easy.

To help with the thought process behind investing in offline and online properties, let’s take a look at some of the different investment options out there, and why it continues to be one of the best ROI business models out there.

It’s Reliable, and Property is Always in Demand

Since the dawn of the Great American Dream, real estate has been considered one of smartest long-term investments available. It’s also one of the biggest reasons young couples have long been advised to purchase a small starter home at the beginning of their marriage with the promise that after a few years they could sell at a profit and pad those retirement accounts. So while you may have never felt compelled to have that front yard and white picket fence, you might want to reconsider. Also be sure to consider your home locations, as you never know when the unexpected might happen!

Economic tides will continue to ebb and flow, but property values tend to almost always increase over time, regardless of the market. Why? Because people will always need shelter, so why not kill two birds with one stone? Shelter wrapped up in an investment is pretty much a win-win. Additionally, while new companies and brands come and go, housing will always remain a necessity, even if there are slight dips in the market.

Taking all of these perspectives and focusing them towards online real estate and domain names, you have even more limitations and value in what you may own. Think of .com, .net, and .org domains as the premium houses of the world. When you get a generic one-word domain, think of it as the most expensive and valuable house in the state! Some domain names will go on to sell for millions of dollars, but it’s extremely rare and unlikely.

You Don’t Need Trade Floor Skills

It’s true that understanding stock market investments can take years of knowledge and practice, but real estate isn’t nearly as complex. Yes, it will require some research, and you’ll have to do a considerable amount of evaluation, but there’s not nearly as much guesswork and volatility with property compared to investing in the latest and greatest trends, like cryptocurrency. Really, it all boils down to figuring out what the real estate market looks like in your area as well as what’s available and it’s quality. Start by visiting open houses and auctions. Connect with others who’ve made property investments and read as much as you can on the topic.

When buying or selling a home, you can go through a realtor. The same holds true for buying and selling domain names online — except it’s often done through a domain broker. Just like realtors, a domain broker is going to do most of the work for you, as they likely have many connections and potential buyers or sellers in place. At the same time, you will also have to pay a percentage (usually 10-30%) for their efforts and success rates.

Go Big, or Go Small — All Options are Available

If you’re interested in buying a home, considering buying a rental property instead. And don’t worry, if do decide to invest in a rental it doesn’t mean you have to actually manage the property yourself. You may decide to hire a property management company to oversee the daily operations. A manager can screen tenants, collect rent payments and show the property to interested parties. Or you may decide to manage the property yourself and function as a landlord. However, if the latter is the case and you don’t have any property management experience, you may want to seek out some advice and tips for new landlords.

This same concept is happening daily in the world of domain names as well. With domain brokers like GreatDomains, NameJet, Pool, and others, sometimes domain names can sell for five, six, or even seven figures. In most cases, these domains will be purchased outright and paid in advance. However, there are times when it makes sense to sell domains at a faster rate and offer a payment plan, which allows for more buyers to take action.

The Internet is Your Ally

Another reason there’s no better time to invest in real estate is the sole factor of technology. Whether it’s the topic of buying, selling or managing real estate the sheer amount of resources you have at your disposal is mind-blowing. With just the click of a button, you can research and make an appointment with experts, realtors, property management companies, and home inspectors (a must before making any purchases). There are also hundreds if not thousands of threads on what you should know before investing, not to mention the added benefit of social media. Gone are the days of taking out a newspaper ad. So if you’re looking to strategically buy and sell to see returns, platforms such as Facebook, and even Craigslist, can provide additional marketing support to get your real estate listings seen.

When it comes to buying and selling domain names, the internet is your bread and butter — in fact, it’s kind of your only option! The good news is that there is a whole world of resources out there, domain expiration services, auction marketplaces to buy and sell domains, and much more. Take advantage of everything the internet has to offer in reference to learning more about buying and selling domain names or site properties, then get ready to make your first move!

It Can Be Tax Deductible

While tax codes allow for a range of deductions, including everything from the interest on your mortgage and money spent on renovation to a range of upkeep and maintenance costs, they do vary by state. You’ll want to investigate, or even consult with an accountant in your area, but in general, most rental property expenses can be written off as business expenses.

If you currently have an online business and are investing in domain names, this would definitely fall under the realm of a write-off (investment/cost) for the business. Of course, if you were to sell the domain name for big money, that would also funnel back into the business and eventually be taxed the same as any other incoming revenue.

Investing in the Offline and Online World of Property and Real Estate

No matter what type of property you are looking to invest in, always be sure to put in the time and effort to completely understand what you are getting into. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Finding that killer domain name on a GoDaddy or NameCheap search and getting it for $10!… Yea, that’s probably a perfect example of ‘too good to be true‘.

At the same time, you may feel hesitant about shelling out the dollars, but if you do your research and select carefully, the financial benefits can be great. The more comfortable you get with the idea of planning out your investments and taking action, the more likely you are to find success in the long run.

However, like most great investments it’ll take dedication and work on your end so don’t hesitate to seek support and get your questions answered!

New Decentralised Lead Generation Methods with Snovio

Once upon a time, there was just one television channel. If you wanted to watch anything on TV, this was the only channel available and you were at the mercy of the broadcast schedule. The only thing you could watch at 4 pm on a Thursday was whatever they were airing then. Times have changed, of course, and it’s hardly unusual to have access to literally hundreds of channels through a regular cable subscription, not to mention on-demand and the nearly limitless possibilities of online streaming. It’s an embarrassment of riches.

In many ways, the art and science of running a successful business today is similar to that. You’re literally overwhelmed by the amount of information available at your fingertips and the real challenge is separating the signal from the noise. When it comes to lead generation, how can you discover the right people quickly and efficiently? This is where the email finder from Snovio comes into play, but the platform itself continues to evolve beyond that.

Find the Right People Faster

Before we get to some of the more recent developments from Snovio, let’s explore its core service.

With Snovio, you are armed with a multi-faceted tool that has been designed specifically for lead generation. Fueled primarily through the free Chrome extension, the access and interface it offers makes it very approachable for just about anyone. Snovio will go wherever you go on the web, so when the opportunity strikes to nab a prized lead, you can do that in just a couple of clicks.

Snovio email finder works by allowing you to grab email addresses of prospective leads and contacts as you make your way around the Internet. This includes finding email addresses on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook, as well as company webpages and other websites. Using the Snovio Chrome extension, you can nab these contacts and nurture the leads as you see fit. Finding anemail address is the first step, but Snovio also works as an email verifier to ensure that the messages you send to these retrieved email addresses won’t bounce.

Features for Finding Information

When you are browsing your way around LinkedIn you can do a “bare search” on the professional social network. When you land on the profile of someone of interest, you can use Snovio to uncover their email address. There is also the Prospect Search tool that strives to find “just the profiles you are seeking.”

Snovio extends this capability across a number of other possible scenarios. For example, the Domain Search tool helps you uncover the names, job positions and email addresses of people associated with a certain web domain. You can also explore the database of company information collected and curated by Snovio to find even more contacts.

Better still, you can get started on Snovio with their forever free plan that provides you with 100 credits each month. If your needs outgrow it, monthly plans start as low as $19 for 1,000 credits, $49 for 5,000 credits and beyond. These credits can be used for verifying LinkedIn emails, performing domain searches, doing bulk domain searches and much more.

Snovio Marketplace

You may have heard of Snovio before and you may have even used their Chrome extension before, as they’ve been around for about a year now. Just recently, in the first quarter of 2018, Snovio launched a blockchain-based marketplace that further amplifies your lead generation possibilities.

The Snovio Marketplace is compelling because it extends beyond the already extensive Snovio database of contacts. If you haven’t found just the right person already (or you don’t have the time to perform the search), you can post your specific request with the number and parameters of the prospects you’d like to get on the Marketplace. Once posted, other users can build up a list of contact data for you in exchange for SNOV tokens. That’s the cryptocurrency supporting this decentralized, blockchain-based marketplace.

You can purchase SNOV tokens using your regular credit card or transfer funds from your Ethereum (ETH) wallet. It’s up to you to set the reward sum in SNOV tokens, knowing that a higher reward will likely attract better and faster results. When you get the results you want, they can be validated and the reward can then be released to the contributor.

Go Direct With Snovian.Space

With the Chrome extension, you tap into the remarkably impressive Snovio email finder and database. With the Snovio Marketplace, you tap into the collective knowledge of a growing number of Snovio contributors who want to fulfill your more specific requests for particular contacts and leads. Going one step above that is Snovian Space, which also uses the SNOV cryptocurrency.

While the Snovio Marketplace is designed so that contributors help you unearth the contact information of prospects, Snovian.Space allows you to make a more direct connection with the prospects themselves. Similarly to the Marketplace, you post a request for a particular kind of contact that you’re looking for, offering a reward in the form of SNOV tokens. It’s a token airdrop. If you prefer, you can use other ERC20 tokens for airdrops too.

Once the request is released, people who fit your specifications and parameters can indicate that they’re interested in being contacted by you. They are rewarded directly with SNOV cryptocurrency for providing their contact information, and you get the lead that you desire. It’s win-win for everyone in a decentralized infrastructure that can theoretically be scaled infinitely.

The scale extends well beyond the “shared connections” you have on a platform like LinkedIn offering you the ability to connect with people directly. Instead of going through an intermediary advertising system in hopes of connecting with the right prospects, businesses can pay these contacts directly by way of offering SNOV tokens. It’s much more transparent and ultimately more effective.

The Future of Snovio

Snovio has come a very long way in a relatively short amount of time. The core database, accessible through the Chrome extension, is already an extremely powerful lead generation tool. The introduction of the Snovio Marketplace and Snovian.Space provides new powerful solutions to the same fundamental challenge all businesses face with: finding the right people quickly and efficiently.

Moving forward through Snovio’s timeline, we can look forward to a proprietary mailing list module, email tracking, data enrichment, a form builder, live chat, lead scoring and even content AI. They’ve got a lot in the works, giving us just a glimpse into the potential of what can be achieved with Snovio.

How to Make Money Promoting Survey and Quiz Affiliate Offers

Remember the days of email and zip poll/survey offers being all over the place, and how they would pay out $1-$2 per lead? Back before GDPR and data regulations were in place, these offers were everywhere you looked. They still are today, but just not as popular as they once were. While these offers aren’t getting the same attention and promotion as they used to, personal data is big money and these same types of offers are still generating millions of dollars daily.

In addition to the “Complete this survey to get a free _____” offers that you’ve seen all over the place, the survey niche is still stronger than ever before. However, it’s not so much the smaller zip and email submit offers that are getting so much attention, but actually the data companies behind them. You’ve likely seen these names and brands before — InboxDollars, Pinecone Research, Vindale Research, and Survey Junkie are some of the more popular ones.

WAHadventures.com highlights many of these surveys on their site and say it possible to make over $250 per month by using survey and incentive networks like Survey Junkie, SwagBucks, MySurvey, InboxDollars and PanelPayDay in your spare time. If you are already making good money online, this might seem like nothing to you — but the average person, getting paid $250+ to take online surveys is like a dream come true! With this same concept in mind, this is why email and zip submit offers do so well. People want free stuff!

Even more, when you start to add a viral or personal interest factor into the mix, that’s when you will really start to see some great results. Just take a look at BuzzFeed quizzes and how they are still one of the most popular sections on their site. People love taking surveys, seeing results, and when you throw an incentive, prize, or money into the mix… big things happen!

The Business of Online Paid Surveys and Giving Stuff Away for Free

On the business side, these offers still do well because customer data is worth a ton of money. Most of the data from these survey sites are sold for huge multiples over what they are actually paying for people to complete a survey. They are also making a huge profit because a large number of survey takers will simply never get to the point where they can cash out (hitting the usual minimum $25-$50 thresholds), which ultimately just keeps that money sitting within the data company.

With all of that being said, millions of dollars are being spent daily from these ‘get paid to complete survey’ companies in advertising, content creation, paid search, and of course, affiliate marketing. To make the most out of all of this money up for grabs, be sure to follow some of the recommended steps below.

How to Promote and Make Money with Online Surveys

Now that we have an idea on the offers available, you will need to focus on how to drive traffic and convert these surveys to audiences that actually convert into leads. One of the best ways to bring in low-cost traffic and convert them into leads is through a survey/poll site or creating an ad campaign with an attractive call to action. Using surveys to generate leads is nothing new, but I will break down the process for you and show you how easy and effective it is.

PRO TIP: Before moving forward, you must check the affiliate promotion guidelines for any specific offer you promote. For example, many zip/email submit offers will allow you to create a custom landing pages, but other high-end survey offers might only allow for text or banner ad placement. Either way, just make sure you are promoting the offer in the required method so you don’t get all of your leads reversed.

Step 1: Find something that everyone is talking about!

If you want to get cheap clicks and grab the attention of audiences around the world, you need to find what everyone is talking about today. For example, “Donald Trump” is likely to be a hot topic for several years now, while “Lebron James” going the Los Angeles Lakers is bound to be a hot trend throughout the next NBA season. This also works well for any highly searched celebrities as well, or anyone is currently trending in the news. The good thing about both of these examples is that it would be quite easy to target these audiences through Facebook Ads, Media Buying, and Social Media.

Still can’t figure out what a good topic is to base your survey or ad campaign around? See what’s currently trending on Google Trends, Twitter, and Facebook.

Just for example sake, let’s take two celebrities (Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Alba) and plug their names into Google Trends. We can immediately see that there is a steady flow of searches being made for both and that they continually have a solid following online. Let’s move forward with that.

Step 2: Create a survey/poll landing page.

Using the topics above, I created a simple landing page that can be used for media buying (or banners if you were to resize it). This literally took two minutes to create within Canva. All you need to do is add some fancy images, create a title and make it look like an interactive survey.

There is really nothing that special about this landing page/media buying copy. Make sure you have a clean design and to the point. I also enticed the visitor to place a vote, by adding “BONUS: Vote Now & Qualify to Receive a Free Gift Card!“. (This can vary depending on your backend offer) All you want the end user to do is click on the image, button, or text you might have in place here.

Again, this is very simple, and depending on the time and effort you put into this, you can make it more advanced or even collect user data for yourself or a newsletter.

Step 3: Finding your backend offer

The next step in the process is to find an affiliate offer that you want to promote. Ideally, this should be a simple email, zip, or one-click submit type of offer. Once you have an audience click on your initial survey/vote offer, you can then pass them along to the affiliate survey offer to complete. You can either setup your own landing page and pass the user onto a confirmation page with stats, or pass them directly to the offer. Make sure you check on marketing options available for the campaign before promoting.

Leadbit currently has this offer active for audiences in the UK and is paying out .70 per lead. The offer can be promoted through mobile, display, emails, search and pop — which allows for a nice range of data, traffic, and split testing purposes.

Step 4: Promotions and getting traffic

Now that you have created your landing page or media buying ad copy, you are ready to go. The best way to generate targeted low-cost traffic would be Media Buying (popunders) and possibly Facebook Ads and using Facebook Fan Pages or Groups (direct relationship or ownership of a group). You could also start targeting news/celebrity sites/blogs through the use of Google Adwords (context display network), native advertising, and popunders ads.

To start playing around with demographic targeting and see how much of a demand there is for a topic, you can use Facebook Ads campaign tool (shown below), or play around with search reports on a tool like SEMRush — which currently shows ‘jessica alba’ at 368,000 searches per month, and ‘jennifer lopez’ with 823,000.

Step 5: Tweaking and watching your numbers

The last step of making money with surveys/polls and news is to continually tweak your landing pages and ad copy to try and get the best conversions. Don’t put all of your traffic to one offer, the reason I went with celebrities, is that there is pretty much an endless supply of traffic related to them out there. See what works best with your traffic, and then expand out into different countries when you start finding success.

This concept is not just limited to celebrity campaigns, however with all of the attention towards the latest hot movies, celebrities attaching the President, and everything else going on… it’s a good market that hasn’t died down and likely won’t.

It all starts with a click…

A few things to point out here…

  • This concept is nothing new, but it should act as a reminder of how to reach new markets
  • Customization and creating unique landing pages and ad copy is key here
  • You also need to split test the end affiliate offer, as this will sway heavily

If you haven’t done anything with affiliate marketing or CPA zip/email submit offers, it’s one of the best ways to get started — as the conversions are usually very high, and the payouts are low. Which means you can start split testing campaigns fast and know right away if you are going to soon find financial success.

Must-Have Business Tools and Resources to Grow Your Startup Online

Have a business of your own, or currently working towards starting one of your own? Great work!

Whether you’ve already started or just in the pre-planning process, you will likely have noticed that the world of online and offline business has changed a lot over the years. Not only is it now easier to get started with a business of your own, it’s also more saturated and flooded than ever before — which also mean more competition, headaches, day to day tasks, and overall management of your business to get that upper edge.

In short, if you want to survive and compete against the best, you will need a little help from some of the top tools, services, solutions, and guides on the internet today. To help with this process, today we are going to take a look at some of my favorite tools and resources that I use and recommend for every business owner.

Web Hosting and Site Development

I first started created websites back in the mid-90s, and everything was straight HTML back then. I even had one site that was made up of more than 10,000+ pages of HTML — all done by hand (no programming at all, and also powered by 16 dedicated Dell servers). This would all seem like a nightmare today, as WordPress and shared hosting has made the process of creating a website or blog extremely easy and affordable. There are NO technical skills required to start a website these days — all it takes is a click of a button and walking through a few simple steps. Best of all, WordPress makes it possible to have a great looking site without ever needing to touch a line of code or be a graphic designer.

When it comes to web hosting, you have more than enough to choose from. In short, if you want to go live with your first website or blog and need to grab a domain name, it’s best to go with a shared hosting plan — usually under $5 to $10 per month. I personally recommend Bluehost, as they are one of the largest and most trusted hosting brands in the world today. They are also the #1 hosting solution, as recommended by WordPress.

As a reader of ZacJohnson.com, all new sign-ups to Bluehost through this blog will receive a free domain name, 60% off hosting plans and also have SSL and WordPress set up on their new site for free.

Email Lead Generation, Mailing and Call to Actions

No matter what type of business or brand you are running, email and content marketing are key. If you have a website or blog, it’s crucial to have a website loaded with great content, but also call to actions to get your audience to take action and engage.

At the same time, you also need to make sure your content is working for you 24/ — specifically bu getting new subscribers to your mailing list daily. Here are two of (my favorite and) best ways to implement these strategies into your business right now.

  1. OptinMonster – You’ve likely seen popup subscribe and call to action forms online. They’re also likely to have been created and running through the power of OptinMonster (created by Syed Balkhi). This tool not only provides the best popup and newsletter subscription forms online, they also have full integration with WordPress to create call to actions and split testing throughout all different areas of your site.
  2. AfterOffers – If you are looking for a solution to increase your mailing list, while not having to sign a long-term contract, AfterOffers is probably a great option for you. This platform has a network of hand-selected sites that promote your newsletter list to their audience and provide only 100% opt-in subscribers delivered in realtime right to your list. Check out their site and see how you can start building your mailing list immediately.
  3. Constant Contact – Every business will need to have the ability to manage their email lists, send out to subscribers, and also have the necessary tracking features and tools to scale in the process. That is exactly what you will find with Constant Contact. You can sign up for a free trial at their site and see what email marketing and list management opportunities they have for your business.

Once you have the power of email marketing working for your business, you can scale it virtually forever. For this to work best, you will need to have solid call to actions through your site, a sales funnel, an autoresponder series, and also putting in the time and effort to set up new email campaigns and traffic sources.

Everyday Business Tools and Email Usage

Of all the tools and resources that business owners use daily, email is probably the most common. A lot of people like to spend hours per day on social media, but if you were to track my time, I think I spend most of it within Gmail — and making all of the new business connections and deals happen!

Gmail out of the box is great in itself, but there are many great tools and applications that can be added in as well. For example, I get a TON of emails daily about advertising and guest blogging on various sites. Thanks to the use of ‘Canned Responses‘, I only need to write a response email once, then click a couple of buttons to have that same template email sent in response to each request.

I’m also a huge fan of using custom email signatures. Right now I’m using Wisestamp, which instantly adds my profile photo, contact info, social profiles and site information to all of the emails I send out daily. This easily adds up to thousands of new people getting a better first impression of myself monthly through email, versus just seeing an email with the signature of “Zac Johnson”.

Lastly, Gmail and Google are great for all of the “suite” tools they have to offer such as Google Docs and Sheets. I use both of these applications daily, and best of all, not only are they free, they are also all stored in the cloud and accessible right within your account.

All in One Maintenance Software

As an entrepreneur or site owner, you are likely running many different aspects of your business. Whether it’s emails, invoicing, revenue reports or tracking your latest ad campaign, you likely have a lot of files all over the place and not many ways to connect each of them together. This might not seem like a huge problem now, but over the course of a year it could add up to hundreds of hours of wasted time.

Instead of having to open and create individual files within Excel and Word, sending out emails through Gmail, and then managing and tracking progress through phone calls and writing notes down on paper… it can actually all be done and tracked seamlessly through the power of CMMS. The ultimate dream of bloggers, affiliate marketers, and business owners is to be able to run their business and day to day operations from anywhere. Having access to an application that brings all of your daily tools and applications together is one of the best ways to move towards that goal

With more people using their mobile devices to run their business and check for updates, a mobile-powered CMMS can help anyone get more work done.

The Treasure Chest of an Entrepreneur is Always Growing!

As you can imagine, every entrepreneur and site/business owner likely has their own preferred set of tools and methods for running their own business. Today I’ve listed just a few of my favorite tools and methods for improving your day to day operations. While I’ve only scratched the surface, I’ll keep updating this article and resource as I find more time.
